SEXUAL HEALTH & AIDS COUNSELLING SERVICE
The Sexual Health and AIDS Counselling Service provide a wide range of brief to longer-term psychological and counselling services for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and other sexual health issues, particularly in the area of sexually transmissible infections (STI). Services are provided by a team of psychologists and a sessional psychiatrist.
Services include:
Support for coping with HIV/AIDS and other sexual health issues, particularly in the area of sexually transmissible infections; Emotional and social adjustment to HIV or other STI diagnoses; Anxiety, stress and depression management for PLWHA; Chronic condition management for PLWHA; Counselling and management for sexual-risk taking for those at risk of HIV or other STI; Assistance with treatment adherence; Acute sexual assault assessment and counselling (for men); Counselling for sex workers; Counselling for partners, family members and carers of PLWHA; Training and in-service education for health workers.
